Are You On The Sidelines Watching or Are You In The Game?

My best friend and I had a conversation a few weeks ago about a guy she had overlooked in her youth because he was not what she “was accustomed” to dating. She talked of how he tried on many occasions to get to her to go out with him and how she would relentlessly turn him down; but he never let it stop him from trying. Then one day, he smiles and tells her… “You’ll be sorry ‘cause I’m not going to look like this always.”

Yes, Sir! Drill Sergeant, Sir...

Discipline… it seems I have a fond allergic reaction to the word discipline when it comes to working out and eating at least 6 meals a day. So I have solicited the help of an old friend to be my weight loss Drill Sergeant to periodically get on my case about my workouts and eating habits. I am hoping, since I hate to be pestered about things that this will help to ignite a drive to become more discipline and consistent with my workouts and eating at least 6 meals a day.

Biggest Loser - Maintaining

I am finding that the older I get, the more difficult it is to lose weight; and heaven forbid missing or skipping a week at the gym because all of your hard work becomes null and void when you realize that that which you’ve recently lost has not only returned, it usually comes with additional company. I’m also finding it hard to be motivated. Don’t get me wrong. I desire to live a healthy life and to be the “image” of healthy living but who’s to say what the “image” of healthy living is. See, I’ve always been what the African American community refers to as “big boned” at a size 12 to 14; I’m solid.

Day 106: No Gym, Again

So I didn’t go the gym again today. This is becoming more of a routine over the last couple of weeks that I very much need to push pass. I have been trying to determine why the desire has diminished, as I started out faithful and excited about the weight loss program that I had initiated.  Was I doing it for the wrong reasons or the reason just isn’t as motivating as it was initially or maybe, truth be told, I am just lazy and will use any excuse to not go the gym (project due, it’s cold, it’s raining…blah, blah, blah). I am happy to announce that my eating habits are improving as I struggled with eating, at minimal, 3-meals a day. Today I enjoyed a Asiago Roast Beef sandwich with the Classic salad and a Mango Smoothie at Panera Bread as one of my meals. Ok, I admit… the Mango Smoothie was far from healthy after they added the whipped cream and raspberry syrup… but it was sure was. I’m thinking I will need another one tomorrow…*smile*.
